How do I sign into my account?
You can sign in from the breathe home page by clicking the internet access option, and then log in using your e-mail address and password in the boxes above.
What exactly are the benefits of breathe broadband?
A broadband connection allows you to really get the best out of the internet, very quickly and cost effectively, because a broadband connection speeds up the time that it takes to download content from websites by ten times the speed of a normal connection. This means that you can download email attachments, play games, watch movies, view photographs and listen to your favourite music in a matter of seconds, rather than wasting time staring at a seemingly never ending download bar. Equally, all the information, files and research matter you search for are on screen instantly, allowing you to use the time you spend online more efficiently.
Is breathe broadband available in my area?
More than likely. The broadband service is currently available in over 1,200 BT exchanges across the country servicing some 13 million households and businesses.
Do I need any special equipment to connect to breathe broadband?
Providing that you have a BT telephone, all you need to connect is a broadband modem and micro filters.
What is a broadband modem?
A broadband connection requires a broadband or ADSL modem for your computer. Although it is likely you already have a standard dial-up modem for your Internet connection you do need to purchase a special Broadband/ADSL Modem.
What is a broadband router?
A broadband router works in the same way as a broadband modem, but a router can be used to connect more than one computer to your broadband line.
How do I set up my broadband modem or router?
Your modem or router will come complete with set-up instructions and software. The only details you should need from breathe are your broadband username and password, which we will supply when you register. Modems are normally more straightforward to set up than routers and most hardware now comes with UK settings as standard. However if you are having problems configuring your hardware please ensure the following UK standard settings are selected:
VCI: 38
VPI: 0
Authentication Type: CHAP
Encapsulation Mode: VCmux
Protocol: PPPoAvcmux (RFC2364)
What is a micro filter?
Micro filters stop the broadband service disrupting your ordinary voice/telephone calls.
Do I need to change my phone number to connect to breathe broadband?
No. Your existing BT number will not have to change.
How many micro filters do I need?
You will need a filter for every telephone line socket you are running the broadband service on (including extensions) used with a telephone or fax machine.
What if I move house?
Providing that the local BT exchange servicing your new address is broadband enabled you will have no problem in connecting whether you have a new telephone number or you transfer your existing number. You may, however, need to pay another connection fee to have your line enabled. If your new BT exchange is not broadband enabled you will not be able to connect to broadband, even if you retain your existing telephone number.
Once I have signed up, how long will it take to connect me to breathe broadband?
At breathe, we pride ourselves on connecting you quickly and efficiently, you should not have to wait any longer than ten days.
Can I upgrade my existing breathe internet connection to breathe broadband?
Very simply! Log into your My Account area, or call our sales team on 0800 078 9180.
If my telephone line is cut off, will it affect my broadband connection?
Yes. If BT disconnect your telephone connection you will not be able to access your broadband connection and you will still be required to fulfil your broadband contract with us.
